5 Ways To Supercharge Your Coffee

Supercharge Your Coffee. Let’s talk about coffee.

Many drink it, and many are not supercharging it.

Coffee is the second most consumed drink in the world (the first is tea) and it offers the perfect moment to create a ritual that can fuel you not only with energy, but other healing foods as well too.

Plus, supercharging your coffee is fun! It makes it even more personal and can make the taste of it even better!

Let’s get into five different foods you can add to your coffee daily, depending on your needs and likes.

Before we begin, we highly recommend blending your coffee! It’s a texture game changer.

5 Ways To Supercharge Your Coffee

1. Add Maca

Oh yes- you’ve heard us mention Maca before! Maca is special to us because it comes from our Founder’s home country- Peru!

Maca is a cruciferous vegetable that acts as a strong adaptogen. As Bon Appetit puts it, “Adaptogens are a class of plants that are thought to fight stress and balance the body.” They are meant to bring balance to where your body needs it.

Maca has been shown to help with fertility in many studies and while more studies are needed, it is believed that Maca can greatly help with hormones. The studies that are most promising when it comes to women’s hormones are the studies done on pre-menopausal women.

Maca also gives us a nice mood booster- some would equate it to a light energy buzz. It really helps with endurance- so why not stretch out your coffee energy with some added Maca? It makes a difference! Be sure to try ours and understand that quality is the most important part of a good Maca!

2. Add Glutamine

Did you know that glutamine is the most abundant amino acid in the body? Digestion issues and gut problems are on the rise in the world. Did you know that glutamine can help strengthen the lining of the gut? It is super important to the immune system and is a building block of protein.

And guess what? It often comes as an odorless, tasteless powder! That means it can be excellent in your morning coffee! 😉 Many people love that coffee “gets their digestive track” going- but how about actually helping to heal your intestinal track while you drink your coffee? Just one scoop a day and you are on your way!

One other perk of glutamine is that it can also help with muscle soreness and recovery! In fact, many body builders take glutamine on the regular to help grow stronger muscles.

3. Add Pure Cacao Powder

Okay, do this just for the taste alone! Seriously. If you have not added this chocolately goodness to your coffee yet- you are not living! 😛 It adds a thickness and taste that is divine.

But pure cacao powder, when sourced of the highest quality (ours is triple tested), can really add a lot of extra health benefits to your coffee.

Cacao is loaded with antioxidants called flavonoids which mop up free radicals that are roaming about in our bodies. There have even been studies that show that cacao, when taken regularly, can help with lowering blood pressure.

You know how coffee can get your heart pounding? Well, cacao can help your cardiovascular health! Makes sense that it’s a wonderful additive for your coffee just for that “off-set” alone.

4. Add Collagen

Collagen is the most abundant protein in our body. It helps with joints, nails, hair, skin, soft tissues and even things as intricate as our lungs! As we age, collagen breaks down more and more every year, which is why it’s important to add collagen or collagen boosting foods to our diet!

Collagen is almost tasteless in coffee and it can even add a really milky texture which is nice. Studies have shown that collagen really can help with skin elasticity- especially when taken over time.

Another cool thing about collagen is that it can help lubricate joints and increase internal hydration.

Collagen and glutamine together are also excellent for gut health!

5. Add Lucuma

Lucuma is such a powerhouse and while those in Peru know this- many in the Western world are not yet privy to it. We have a feeling that is about to change.
First off, it’s important to get a Lucuma powder that is organic and sourced straight from Peru. Lucuma is a fruit that is native to Peru and it has a sweeter taste to it. Many will say it is a mixture of butterscotch, sweet potatoes, carmel, and fruit. Interesting right? It definitely is a taste of it’s own.

Lucuma has many health benefits- like cacao, Lucuma is packed with flavonoids that help clean up toxins and free radicals in our bodies.

One of the main reasons why it’s great to include in your coffee is the fiber content of Lucuma. So many people aren’t getting enough fiber so to get some right in the beginning of the day is an added bonus. Lucuma has both soluble and insoluble fiber, which helps feed good gut bacteria and helps solidify bowel movements.

Lucuma also helps stabilize blood sugar levels (most sweeteners do the opposite!) which in turn helps our insulin levels.

One tablespoon of Lucuma is enough to give us an extra dose of effective health in our coffees!
