Sacred Sabbath

Sacred Sabbath

As a follower of Christ Jesus, I have a clear understanding that Jesus, portrayed the heart of God The Father everywhere He went. Jesus was embraced by many for His compassionate heart but also highly challenged and criticized for His defiance against tinted religious practices.

This passage discusses how Jesus went on a Sabbath day to eat at a house of a prominent Pharisee. I think the intent of the Pharisees was to carefully watch Jesus’ every move. While there, Jesus observed a sick man, and the Pharisees would have this sick man wait for his healing until Sabbath was over.

Knowing that the heart of the Father is to heal, Jesus proceeded to ask the Pharisees if it is lawful to heal this sick man on the Sacred Sabbath? Everyone remained silent and so He healed the man and sent him on his way.

This action contradicted the rituals of the religious men but Jesus makes it clear that all laws must submit to the most important law of all, and this is to the law of LOVE. Furthermore, Jesus asked “if one of you has a child or an ox that falls into a well on Sabbath day, will you not immediately pull it out? Everyone remained silent!

Jesus not only displayed the compassionate heart of the Father to heal but He also showed courage to go against criticism of others around Him. The way I discern this passage is that the Spirit of God will always say “YES TO YOUR HEALING” His heart is to heal you always despite what you may have done.

Jesus’ work at the cross gives you eternal forgiveness and you now have access to God’s mercy and grace. Also, your healing is accessible to you always despite the limitations imposed by men along with all the criticism of the world. God’s healing and restoration are rooted in “LOVE” an unconditional love that is perfected by the sacrificial work of Jesus at the cross.

I want to encourage you today to accept God’s love and healing by coming to Him with a transparent heart, a repented heart, reaching out to Him, and asking Him to intervene in your circumstances. You are invited to be part of the body of Christ.

Luke 14:1-6

Prayer Declaration

Father, let me seek your face, show me your heart, your power, and grace. I repent for all my wrongdoings, forgive me for everything I have done that went against your ways. I know your heart is for me to heal and live in harmony with you. Your word says you will answer to my calling, you will be with me when I am in trouble, you will deliver me and honor me with long life you will satisfy me, and show me your salvation.

Sacred Sabbath, I know your word does not return to you void, and your promises are real. Please come into my life and my circumstances, and show me what to do. I trust your plans are for good and perfect for me. I yield to your precious Holy Spirit to lead me in the direction you best see for me and those I love. I trust you and surrender to your unconditional love for me. Help me see you in my life and give me the courage to walk in faith despite criticism and rejection. Help me set my eyes on the eternal. In Jesus’ name… Amen!
