If-you-can-believe

If you can believe…

If you can believe

This phrase may resonate with you since it is commonly used in Christian circles. It was birthed out of a passage in the bible where a man was desperately looking for healing for his son who had a mute spirit. Even though Jesus’ disciples were filled with God’s authority, they were unable to rebuke this spirit. Jesus replied, “O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to me. When the boy appeared before Jesus the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground. Jesus asked the father, how long had his son been like this? Since childhood, he replied, and often this spirit has thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. The boy’s father continued and asked Jesus, have compassion on us, and help us. Jesus said to him, “If you believe all things are possible to him who believes” Immediately the boy’s father cried out and said with tears, “Lord I believe; help my unbelief” Jesus’ compassion was so deep, so profound, that leaves me in tears as I share this post with you. Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit saying to it: “Deaf and dumb spirit I command you, come out of him and enter him no more!” and the boy was healed.

Jesus’ compassion for the hurting, for those who are sick, is profound, real and his love for you and me is displayed once again in this bible passage. Jesus has given us power and authority to rebuke the work of darkness but it starts with our faith in believing this is possible. I’ve been guilty myself in saying that I believe but deep down I may have wondered and doubted just like his disciples did. Remember we will always have a choice to either feed our faith or our fear. Which one is feeding you today? I encourage you to choose HIM over your fears, your storms, your doubts. He is faithful always and His word does not return to Him void. Sometimes outcomes may not look the way we think they should but if you trust Him He will not let you down. I know it!

The above message ended with Jesus saying to His disciples that this kind of spirit can only come out by nothing but “Prayer and Fasting” If you have not done this perhaps doing so may bring the healing you are after.

Mark 9:14-29

Prayer Declaration

Lord, forgive me for all my wrongdoings, and for partnering with unbelief. I pray today that just like the boy’s father, you will help me with my unbelief and transform it through your compassion in believing that all things are possible. Today and every day, I choose to believe and have faith in you. Thank you father, for hearing my cry and for enlightening the eyes of my heart in order to know the hope to which You have called me. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen!
