I am convinced that our emotional health impacts our physical health. I believe our emotions are a third of our overall health and we MUST pay attention as I believe emotions are crucial to maintain a healthy and balanced life. This is an area that I refused to explore for the first few years of my journey. However, in looking for my healing I have discovered that our emotions are closely rooted in our beliefs and beliefs are part of the emotional ecosystem of every human being.
I have met multiple doctors that indicate that our bodies are a reflection of our subconscious mind. This concept is honestly new to me but the more research I do the more it makes sense. So let’s explore what are beliefs and how these are connected to our subconscious mind.
There are many doctors in the field of neuroscience that have dedicated their entire lives to the study of the mind, body connection, and how our bodies are a reflection of our subconscious mind. For instance, Dr. Candace Pert, Ph.D., also known as “The Mother of Psychoneuroimmunology” and “The Goddess of Neuroscience” says through her research that there is “scientific evidence that a biochemical basis for awareness and consciousness exists, that the mind and body are indeed one and that our emotions and feelings are the bridge that links the two. She explains, “The chemicals that are running our body and our brain are the same chemicals that are involved in emotion.” Inevitably proving that our emotions are definitely connected to our health.
Our subconscious mind stores a set of beliefs, data collected throughout our lives. Our beliefs are usually shaped by our environment, starting in childhood or even before birth. The information gathered throughout life influenced by our parents, authority figures, culture, religion, and environment will shape our belief systems. This in turn will most certainly impact our emotions and our health.
Beliefs are choices that can shape our realities. Isn’t that amazing? Unfortunately, I think many of us feel that we may not have a choice and things are the way they are and we must just accept them. This concept is fairly new to me too. But I am so willing to embrace it and take that leap of faith to learn, empower and heal. The thought that I have the power to heal from within excites me and it should excite you too! The knowing that my well being is not merely subject to the hands of doctors, or others but it depends a great deal on me, well that is “Good News”
It is sad to me to see so many of us wasting time dwelling on emotions that may be rooted in deceptive beliefs that unfortunately have an impact on our current state and become our default responses to life triggers. I heard a doctor once say; “stop renting space in your brain to people and trauma from past memories and create new memories.” This really impacted me as I recognize I have been trapped in this toxic pattern many times over. It is clear to me that we can not separate the mind and body and treat them separately, since emotions run every system in the body, don’t underestimate their power to treat and heal. Why does the medical industry want to treat them separately?
The bottom line is that God and science recognize that our beliefs impact our health. I wonder if you feel comfortable doing a mental summary of your beliefs and challenge them?
