How Did I Deal With Cancer Treatments?

Cancer Treatments. Like most people, I never thought that cancer would knock on my door. I had a normal life with my husband and my three beautiful children. Honestly, everything was just fine and since I never managed to have any strange symptoms that caught my attention, there was no concern either.

However, in the blink of an eye, my life took a 360 ° turn and it was there that my healing journey began.

In this article I want to briefly explain how I dealt with my treatment, what decisions I made and how my faith in God made me stronger during this experience that invited me to live again.

This is my journey

When I received my diagnosis of thyroid cancer, I was very scared, but it didn’t take long for me to decide to leave everything in the hands of God, listen to my intuition and cover myself with a shield of faith.

I remember that I stood firm in the face of pressure from doctors and even family members, who in the midst of their concern advised me to follow conventional treatments such as biopsy, surgery, chemotherapy, etc., but none of that seemed right to me.

Instead of that, I took my time exploring, researching and choosing the treatment that best aligned with my values and what I felt was right: the holistic approach. I decided to get away from all the negatives and focus on my habits, my diet, and my general well-being; body, mind and spirit.

I changed my diet to a plant-based one, strengthened my relationship with God, learned to work on my emotions, control negative thoughts, and even underwent immunotherapy treatment with a wonderful doctor in my country of birth, Peru.

What I have to say today is that there’s no black and white when it comes to cancer. There is no magic formula or miracle cure that works for all patients. However, for me, this was the only way.

Cancer is a personal disease

My journey has been difficult, but every step of the way I knew I was on the right track. Cancer, as many of you already know, is a very personal disease. While two people can have the exact same cancer, the same stage, the same symptoms, all the same, their bodies may not respond exactly the same to treatment.

With traditional cancer therapies, all people are generally treated the same. The same cocktail of drugs is used, with minor adjustments to treat side effects. Ultimately, however, the individual’s body chemistry, personal conditions, and medical history will play a critical role in the effectiveness of any treatment.

My advice always is and will remain the same. Take your time, don’t be guided by fear, worry and pressure. Do your research and do what YOU think is right for you. Do not get carried away by a state of fear. Trust God and your intuition.
